JANA R. BARNETT

Jana R. Barnett, Esq
(610) 478-1860

Jana Ruth Barnett earned her bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University (Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude, Honors Program) in 1973.  Three years later, Attorney Barnett earned her juris doctorate from the University of Maryland at Baltimore.   Attorney Barnett passed the Maryland bar examination shortly after graduating from law school, and was sworn in as an attorney on December 29, 1976.

Attorney Barnett litigated civil and criminal cases in Baltimore, Maryland for seven (7) years.  At the same time, she earned a Masters of Administrative Science from the Johns Hopkins University.  Attorney Barnett left private practice to work in the Legal Division of Maryland Casualty Company, where her clients included the Human Resources Division.

Attorney Barnett moved to Wyomissing, Pennsylvania in 1994.  That same year, she passed the Pennsylvania bar examination and became licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania.

All clients receive Attorney Barnett’s personal attention.  She handles her cases from start to finish.  Jana demonstrates her concern for her clients by promptly responding to telephone calls, e-mails and letters; scheduling appointments at times convenient to clients; keeping clients up-to-date regarding their case; providing clients with copies of all documents sent and received by the office; explaining clients’ options and making recommendations but honoring clients’ decisions; serving as a strong advocate for her clients; litigating cases where prompt and reasonable settlements are not possible; and investing in continuing legal education classes helpful to her clients.

Attorney Barnett has been married since 1986.  Her husband is a professional engineer.  Their son graduated from The Pennsylvania State University, University Park (his father’s alma mater).  Breck, the family’s dog, is a frequent visitor to the office and – when not napping – constitutes a “crack security team”.

Attorney Barnett has served the community in a variety of ways, including eight (8) years on the Wyomissing Area Board of School Directors, as well as eight (8) years on the board of the Literacy Council of Reading-Berks, Inc.

If Attorney Barnett can assist you, call her at 610/478-1860 or e-mail her, and she will reply as quickly as possible.
